John Forrest was the first premier in Western Australia.
He was born on the 22nd of August in the Oxford area in 1843.
He was born to scottish parents and had a brother Alexander. He got married in
1879 to a lady called Margaret Elvire and had no children. He later died in 1918 after being diagnosed with skin cancer on his way to England for medical treatment.John Forrest's mother and father where William and Margaret Forrest. His next expedition was the first time someone travelled across from the west side to the east side of Australia on foot. The next year he went to England and he gave a few public lectures to the people who lived there. In 1876 he received 2000 hectares of free land which is called John Forrest National Park.
